Africa Twin Crash Bar Bracket Modification

Oct 12, 2021 // The AltRider Garage //

There are many similarities between Africa Twin 1100 Standard & Adventure Sports models and a few differences. One noticeable difference that has impacted the design of AltRider parts is the differences is the additional cornering lights in the Adventure Sports.

As a result of the different headlights, the AltRider Headlight Guards for each model are different.

With the different shape of the Headlight Guards, there are  also different brackets to hold the guards in place.

If you’re going to have the AltRider Upper Crash bars installed, there is a few details to be aware of:

The Upper Crash Bars have a bracket that mounts underneath the headlights, this is the same location that the bottom bracket of the Headlight Guards mounts to. Although the Crash Bars are the same for both Standard & Adventure Sports there are some caveats.

  • The bracket that comes with the Upper Crash Bars is same bracket used for the Adventure Sports Headlight Guard. If you have your Adventure Sports outfitted with Upper Crash Bars and a Headlight Guard you’ll use one bracket for both Upper Crash Bars and Headlight Guard (shown below).
  • The Standard Headlight Guard uses a different bracket (shown below)
  • If you have your Standard outfitted with Upper Crash Bars and a Headlight Guard: You’ll use both brackets stacked together (shown below). Optionally trim the unused mounts at dashed line, this is only cosmetic. Touch up paint will be required to prevent oxidation.

  • If you have your Standard OR Adventure Sports outfitted with Upper Crash Bars and will NOT install a Headlight Guard: Optionally trim the unused mounts at dashed line, this is only cosmetic. Touch up paint will be required to prevent oxidation.
