The front end of the Africa Twin sports a lot of plastic work and very few easily accessible mounting points, creating a challenge when finding locations to mount a proper headlight guard. AltRider engineers found a creative but practical solution to mount the Headlight Guard bracket to the bike, fastening to the windscreen support and to the cowl support underneath the headlight assembly. The Mesh Headlight Guard is constructed in the USA of 1/16 inch (2 mm) laser cut steel, and is designed to provide total coverage for the headlight assembly without interfering with light output. The guard mounts to four hard points with stainless fasteners, and the no-tools quick release system allows for easy removal of the lens for cleaning. The Mesh Headlight Guard is available in a black powder coated finish.
The Clear Headlight Guard is constructed in the USA from 4.7 mm thick scratch-resistant polycarbonate, the Clear Headlight Guard mounts to four factory hard points by way of the 2 mm thick laser cut stainless steel mounting bracket. The quick release system means no tools are required to remove the polycarbonate lens for cleaning in the field. The AltRider Clear Headlight Guard is offered in a powder coated black finish.

When paired with crashbars, the installation and quick release features are more challenging to navigate. In order to clean the headlight, release the top two ball studs and lean the lens forward in order to access and clean your headlight.
Configuration notes: If you already have the AltRider Upper Crash Bars and are ordering the headlight guard, order the headlight guard "without installation bracket", as the upper crash bars and headlight guard share a bracket.
NOTE: Polycarbonate will react to certain chemicals and requires specific care to clean correctly and keep looking good for the long haul. Cleaning improperly can result in scratches, hazing, surface crazing and cracking. See our blog post on proper cleaning of our polycarbonate headlight guards.
